The objective of the GEOSEC project is to analyse and model the security and privacy weaknesses of existing techniques for location, place and geography information delivery (e.g. personal data disclosure, PII) and enabling trust in location based services (e.g. by proximity). The project also aims to propose secure and privacy preserving solutions to enable geographic information about locations and places to be a trusted and integral part of the Internet of Things (IoT) information infrastructure. The project will state clearly the security/privacy enhancement of the geographic information and services that are needed to support better IoT systems in the future. This project will initially focus on a number of well-known use cases (themes) such as: 1) CAV and ITS, 2) smart ambient public space, 3) IoT-enabled smart road and street planning, pricing and maintenance.
- Provide a comprehensive analysis of security and identity/location privacy requirements of the mentioned use cases.
- Analyse and modelling of the existing key management techniques to provide secure unicast, multicast (for groups) and broadcast communications. Also privacy techniques for identity hiding will be examined that are used for geographic information exchanges in ITS and LBS.
- The design of a lightweight and scalable security and privacy preserving techniques for both CAV/ITS and LBS, initially focused on the project use cases.
- A PETRAS hub-wide ‘observatory’ will be established to engage other PETRAS projects to work closely with GEOSEC in an integrated manner to share best practice and use cases, to trial GEOSEC proposals and to maximize the research impacts for OS and other PETRAS partners.
