The CEDE project aims to explore the use of cloudlets to increase the resilience and privacy guarantees offered by edge devices in the IoT.
Uptake of IoT is leading to connected networks of devices that can be compromised much faster than human detection and reaction time. The project looks at whether weakly connected IoT islands are harder to compromise than a fully connected network.
The CEDE project consists of three distinct phases. Phase 1 involves designing a system architecture to enable IoT islands to be created using cloudlets. Phase 2 explores the use of this system architecture in maintaining critical infrastructure and in human memory augmentation. Finally, in Phase 3, CEDE implements this architecture to evaluate the proposed approach.
