Prof. Emil Lupu
Deputy Director PETRAS; Co-I Responding to Attacks and Compromise at the Edge (RACE) 

Emil Lupu is Professor of Computer Systems in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London where he leads the Resilient Information Systems Security Group (www.rissgroup.org). His research interests focus on the cyber security and resilience of IoT systems including their physical, digital and human characteristics and their ability to continue operating even when they have been partially compromised. His current work includes techniques for measuring the integrity of a system from within itself, scalable risk analysis and inference with dynamic evidence, cyber-resilience, retrofitting security to legacy systems, adversarial machine learning and the security of cyber physical systems. He has previously led research on policy-based systems management and access control focussed on the development of techniques that reconfigure systems in response to failures, performance degradations or new requirements and addressed all aspects of the policy life-cycle: specification, deployment, enforcement, formal analysis, and refinement. Halil works closely with the Centre’s academic partners, other Centre team members, and the PETRAS governance bodies to oversee the Centre’s research programme, and lead the development and implementation of its processes and procedures around project monitoring and internal QA. Professor Jeremy D Watson CBE FREng FIET J D Watson is the PI and Director of the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems security, Prof of Engineering Systems at UCL STEaPP, and Chief Scientist and Engineer at BRE; he was previously President of the IET, Global Research Director at Arup, Technology Director of BOC Edwards, and Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department of Communities & Local Government during which time he served on SAGE. He currently is lead Fellow for Engineering Policy at the RAEng, and chair of the National Engineering Policy Centre Committee.
